Energy audits: The “key” to helping businesses optimize costs, improve operational efficiency, and move towards sustainable development

6 October, 2026

From August 17th to 20th, VETS | EnE conducted an energy audit at two factories of Fukoku Vietnam Co., Ltd., focusing on assessing the current energy usage and identifying opportunities for savings and optimizing operational efficiency at the factories.

Solving the problem of energy consumption and loss through energy auditing.

According to regulations, businesses classified as key energy users are required to conduct energy audits as stipulated in Decree 21/2011/ND-CP . In particular, for manufacturing facilities with numerous energy-consuming systems and equipment, correctly identifying high-consumption points and areas at risk of energy loss is crucial for businesses to make appropriate investment and operational decisions.

Based on this reality, VETS | EnE implemented an energy audit project at two factories of Fukoku Vietnam Co., Ltd. – a company specializing in the production and trading of gaskets, seals, and components made from industrial rubber, supplying many famous automobile manufacturers worldwide.

The VETS | EnE technical team conducted an energy survey and audit at Fukoku Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Through surveys and analysis, businesses can assess the current state of energy use, equipment condition, and high-energy consumption areas within the factory. Based on this, the audit report will propose appropriate management and technical solutions, including implementation plans, investment costs, and priorities, to optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Identify the causes of energy loss at the factory.

Energy audit cycle in businesses

According to Clause 1, Article 13 of Circular 25/2020/TT-BCT , key energy-consuming facilities are responsible for conducting mandatory energy audits every three years.

Businesses are responsible for conducting energy audits every three years.

The procedures for conducting energy audits and the content of energy audit reports are specifically stipulated in Appendix III issued with Circular 25/2020/TT-BCT . During the audit process, businesses need to conduct surveys, collect energy consumption data, take actual measurements, and analyze the operational efficiency of energy-using systems and equipment.

What benefits does an energy audit bring to a business?

Energy audits are not simply about assessing energy consumption; they also provide businesses with a comprehensive picture of energy efficiency and data for decision-making. Implementing an audit can yield the following practical benefits:

  • Identify energy consumption and loss points: Determine which systems, equipment, and processes consume the most energy, and then find suitable opportunities for savings.
  • Optimizing operating costs: Proposing technical and management solutions to reduce energy consumption, save on electricity and fuel costs, and improve production efficiency.
  • Enhancing equipment performance: Detecting operational inefficiencies and assisting businesses in improving system performance and reliability.
  • Basis for investment decisions: Assessing potential savings, investment costs, and payback periods helps businesses prioritize feasible solutions.
  • Supporting compliance and sustainability: Meeting regulatory energy audit requirements while laying the groundwork for emission reduction and green transition goals.

Energy audits offer significant benefits to businesses.
