Energy auditor

Based on the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy, Circular No. 39/2011/TT-BCT and Decision No. 11860/QD-BCĐ, the Energy Saving Office – Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with Vietnam Technology Solutions Joint Stock Company (VETS), organizes training courses for Energy Auditors for businesses and energy saving consulting units.

Who are energy auditors?

In a context where optimizing operating costs and improving energy efficiency have become priorities for many businesses, energy audits play a crucial role in identifying waste, assessing the current situation, and seeking opportunities for energy savings.

Energy auditors are professionals who  conduct surveys, measurements, analyses, and assessments of energy usage at production facilities, construction sites, or buildings. Based on the collected data, auditors identify areas of high energy consumption, evaluate equipment efficiency, and propose appropriate improvement solutions.

Auditing activities help analyze and evaluate consumption levels, propose measures for efficient and economical use, and aim to optimize energy utilization.

To perform this work effectively, auditors need to have a thorough understanding of legal regulations, audit procedures, energy-saving technologies, and methods for evaluating the technical and financial effectiveness of solutions.

The role of energy auditors in businesses.

Energy auditors play a crucial role in assessing the current state of energy use, identifying opportunities for savings, and proposing solutions to improve operational efficiency within businesses. Particularly for industrial production facilities, this team contributes to controlling energy costs, optimizing equipment performance, and supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals. Specifically:

• Assessing the current state of energy use: Surveying, measuring, and quantifying the energy consumption of systems such as lighting, boilers, air conditioning, motors, and production lines.
• Identify potential savings: Discover energy losses and waste points in operations and production processes.
• Proposing technical and financial solutions: Providing energy optimization measures along with economic efficiency analysis (such as NPV and IRR indices) to facilitate investment by businesses.
• Legal compliance support: Assisting key energy-consuming facilities in complying with State regulations on periodic energy audits (every 3 years according to Decree 21/2011/ND-CP) and completing reports for submission to management agencies.
• Promoting sustainable development: Contributing to reducing production costs for businesses, decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, and building the image of a “Green Business”.

VETS Energy Auditor Training Course | EnE

The VETS | EnE Energy Auditor Training Course focuses on equipping participants with legal knowledge, methodologies, and skills in using measurement and testing equipment, while also developing their ability to analyze and identify energy saving opportunities and propose technical and financial solutions to optimize energy efficiency in businesses.

The standard training content, as stipulated in Circular No. 53/2025/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, includes:

• Legal knowledge regarding the efficient and effective use of energy;
• Energy-saving technologies, equipment, and solutions;
• Energy audit procedures and methods;
• Standards, regulations, and related technologies;
• Analyze energy efficiency and propose solutions for energy saving and efficient energy use;
• Calculate the investment efficiency for energy-saving solutions.

The teaching staff consists of reputable experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Electrical Engineering, and VETS Academy. With extensive practical experience, the lecturers not only impart knowledge but also directly share typical case studies from energy audit projects implemented in various industries.

Upon completion of the course, VETS | EnE will conduct training and organize competency assessments in accordance with the program content and the energy auditor assessment questions issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Based on the competency assessment results, the training institution will issue energy auditor certificates to trainees who meet the requirements as stipulated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
