Industrialization and modernization contribute to promoting the economy strongly. However, with it comes the problem of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which requires businesses to have solutions to overcome the maximum amount of their production emissions.
WHAT ARE GREENHOUSE GASES? WHAT ARE THE THREATS OF GREENHOUSE GAS?
Greenhouse gases are gases in Earth’s atmosphere that trap heat. They let sunlight pass through the atmosphere, but they prevent the heat that the sunlight brings from leaving the atmosphere.
The main greenhouse gases are: Water vapor, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), Ozone (O3), Nitrous oxide (N2O) and Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which are generated during human’s activities, exploitation and development. They have the effect of trapping the sun’s heat, preventing it from being reflected. If this amount of gas exists in moderation, it will help the Earth stay in equilibrium. However, if greenhouse gases increase too much in the atmosphere, it will cause the greenhouse effect or global warming.
The amount of greenhouse gases by sectors in 2019 according to Economic Sector
The consequences of the greenhouse effect are very serious. Firstly, it will make a big ecological change. The more the desert expands, the more the land is eroded, the forest retreats further to the poles, the drought is very severe and the rainfall increases by 7-11%. The more humid the winter, the drier the summer. The more humid the tropics, the more droughty the subtropical dry areas, causing irrigation works to be adjusted. Natural disasters will threaten the coastal area.
As temperatures rise, the polar ice caps will melt leading to sea levels rising. Currently, up to a third of the world’s population lives in coastal areas. This area is also a place of industrial and agricultural development. If the sea level rises, it will drown many cities and ports.
HOW TO REDUCE GHG EMISSIONS
With the harmful effects that the greenhouse effect brings to humans, organisms and the living environment, each of us needs to be conscious to thoroughly overcome this global phenomenon with the following missions:
Grow more trees
This is one of the ways that is very simple, easy to implement but extremely effective methods.
Trees will absorb CO2 through photosynthesis, thereby significantly reducing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, thereby effectively overcoming the greenhouse effect.
Raise awareness of electricity savings
Electricity is produced from the burning of raw materials as well as fossil fuels. When these fuels are burned, they will generate a huge amount of CO2 and release it into the environment causing pollution as well as increasing the greenhouse effect. Therefore, let’s be conscious of saving electricity every day.
Use environmentally friendly transport
The most popular transport such as motorbikes, cars, etc., when operating, will emit a large amount of CO2. Therefore, if possible, increasing the use of public transport, cycling or walking will be the most effective ways to protect the environment and the earth.
Deal with air pollution positively
In order to minimize greenhouse gas, people when developing industrial production need to actively deal with air pollution, research technology to convert CO2 into other substances and prevent methane, halogen, chlorine, fluorine, etc. don’t release into the air. At the same time by all means reduce the consumption of petroleum and coal energy and try to apply nuclear energy, solar energy, water and wind power to reduce the amount of CO2 released into the air.
Greenhouse Gas inventory service
To use energy efficiency and conservation to reduce emissions, fight climate change and ensure energy security, agencies and businesses can hire the service of GHG inventory.
Currently, Vets | Energy is one of the best GHG Inventories in Vietnam. We provide GHG emission facilities under the Law on Environment Protection in Vietnam.
With more than 15 years of experience and a team of highly qualified personnel and modern equipment, Vets | Energy’s experts will help businesses identify the emissions sources, quantify sources of greenhouse gas emissions, identify opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make recommendations for effective greenhouse gas emissions management. Thereby, businesses will use less energy, operate more efficiently and reduce greenhouse gas emissions than other companies in the same industry.
