Energy efficiency and conservation: Technology as the “key”

On the afternoon of November 27, the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) organized the specialized workshop “Energy Efficiency and Conservation Technologies” in Hanoi. The workshop was one of the key professional activities within the framework of the 2025 Energy-Saving Equipment and Green Transformation Exhibition Series.

The objective of the workshop was to create a forum for state management agencies, the business community, experts, scientists, and international partners to share information, disseminate knowledge, introduce and update advanced technology trends, exchange practical experience, discuss challenges, and propose solutions suited to Vietnam’s context.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang – Director General of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion – delivered the opening remarks at the workshop.

Key topics discussed included:

  • Policies, laws, and support mechanisms for enterprises under the VNEEP program;

  • Energy demand and consumption trends, and energy-efficient technologies in industry, urban development and buildings, and transportation;

  • Practical experiences in implementing energy-saving solutions, technology upgrades, and operational management improvements.

The workshop provided valuable insights into energy-efficient technology trends in Vietnam and globally.

At the event, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hau – Representative of VETS | EnE delivered a presentation on the application of IoT-AI in monitoring and optimizing energy systems. According to Mr. Hau, an IoT-AI–based energy management system enables continuous data storage at second, minute, and hourly-level intervals; visualized data analytics; detection of abnormal energy consumption periods; and data analysis by hour, day, month, and year, thereby supporting peak load response measures and the implementation of Demand Response (DR) programs.

As a result, IoT-AI serves as a core pillar of digital energy transformation, delivering comprehensive benefits across economic, operational, safety, and environmental dimensions; reducing costs, improving equipment efficiency, minimizing incidents; establishing a data foundation for Smart Factories and Smart Buildings; and helping enterprises gain a significant competitive advantage.

At the workshop, VETS | EnE also engaged in discussions and contributed insights on topics related to energy efficiency and conservation technologies. The delegates’ inputs, together with practical implementation models of high-performance energy-saving solutions from enterprises, will support the Ministry of Industry and Trade in developing and proposing appropriate mechanisms, policies, and support solutions, making tangible contributions to Vietnam’s journey toward energy efficiency, conservation, and green transformation.
